Wheeland to Host Policy Committee Hearing on Central PA Food Bank Services, Impact
WHAT: Rep. Jeff Wheeland (R-Lycoming), together with the chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), will host an informational hearing in Williamsport on the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s available services, community programs and partnerships, and economic impact.
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributes more than 48 million pounds of food and grocery products every year to more than 900 soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. Following the hearing, legislators will be given an opportunity to tour the facility.
WHO: Wheeland, Benninghoff and several state legislators from across the region. Testifiers will include Erin Smith Wachter, director of advocacy and public policy, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank; Candice Dotterer, Paul Dotterer and Sons Dairy Farm; Dave Masser, president, Sterman Masser Inc., and vice president, Pennsylvania Co-Operative Potato Growers; David Swartz, district director, Penn State Extension; Judy Dillon, director of Community Health, Penn State Hershey Medical Center; and Eric Saunders, executive director, New Hope Ministries.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to noon. To be immediately followed by a tour of the facility at 12:15 p.m.
