Saylor Announces Tax Credits for Farmers
RED LION- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the state’s Resource Enhancement and Protection Program (REAP) tax credit. This program allows farmers, landowners and businesses to earn tax credits for implementing "Best Management Practices" (BMPs) that will enhance farm production and protect natural resources.
“Agriculture is a key driver of our economy in York County and throughout Pennsylvania. In this year’s budget we increased the REAP tax credit from $10 million to $13 million. This is a great opportunity for York County farmers and I highly encourage any interested farmer or landowner to apply quickly since the funding is first-come, first-served for qualified applicants.”
As part of the current year state budget the REAP tax credit was increased by an additional $3 million. Eligible applicants receive between 50% and 75% of project costs in the form of state tax credits for up to $250,000 per operation in a seven-year timeframe. The Department of Agriculture opened the application for these tax credits on Sept. 18. Since the program is capped at $13 million, qualified applicants are approved on a first-come, first-served basis. It is important that interested parties apply early.
