Knowles Focused on Eliminating Unnecessary and Burdensome Regulations in State Budget
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Berks/Carbon/Schuylkill) made the following statement after a joint session of the General Assembly convened for the governor’s budget address on Tuesday:
“The budget has many technical details, but at the end of the day, it should be about one thing: ensuring Pennsylvanian’s prosperity grows, rather than the government’s. We need to ensure we are allocating funds in the most efficient and effective ways possible. We will be looking at the budget line by line to examine how much we are spending and the effectiveness of each program. Everything is on the table, and there are no sacred cows. I hope members of the General Assembly and the administration can work in a bipartisan manner to pass a balanced, responsible budget that includes no broad-based tax increases.
“I plan to continue to work for the total elimination of school property taxes. Additionally, I want to eliminate unnecessary regulations to help our businesses prosper and allow them to retain and create additional family-sustaining jobs.”
