Tobash Focused on Creating a Brighter Future for Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG – Following the governor’s budget address on Tuesday, where he presented his proposal for the 2017-18 state budget, Rep. Mike Tobash (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin) issued the following statement, outlining his priorities for this budget cycle:
“As a legislator, my goal continues to be centered on creating a brighter future for our state and all of its citizens so that every Pennsylvanian has the ability to fulfil his or her own American Dream. I am focused on generating future prosperity by getting more of our family, friends and neighbors great paying jobs, by emphasizing the employment opportunities we have in our region, and by ensuring our future workforce is educated, and is able to pursue any career path we have available.
“One of the things I plan to keep in mind throughout this budget process is continuing to find new ways to fund our budgets. We need to find creative ways to save, while relying less on our taxpayers. I will continue to be part of a process to implement changes to our debt-ridden public pension system so that retirees and current employees are guaranteed what has been promised to them, and future employees of this state have retirement plans that are attractive, yet affordable for our taxpayers.
“I look forward to working with my House colleagues, the Senate and the governor to create a budget that meets Pennsylvania’s needs. We need to reprioritize our spending, consolidate and streamline where we can, and make sure our taxpayers are getting the very best from their government.”
