Ward Issues Statement on Governor’s Proposed 2017-18 State Budget
2/7/2017
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Judy Ward (R-Blair) today released the following statement after Gov. Tom Wolf delivered his 2017-18 budget address to a joint session of the Pennsylvania House and Senate:

“This was Gov. Wolf’s third budget address and it was refreshing that he did not propose high broad-based tax increases on Pennsylvania families. Instead, he adopted a more conservative approach of looking to manage costs and reduce government.

“His main theme was ‘consolidation’ of several different state agencies and departments in order to manage costs and eliminate redundancies. I think this is a great idea in concept and one in which I support exploring; however, we first need to review his plan in detail to ascertain how these savings would be captured and the impact, if any, it would have.

“The governor’s address today is the first step in the months-long budget process; however, I am optimistic that we can find common ground and come to a resolution that will meet Pennsylvania’s needs without placing any further burden on taxpayers.”
