Pennsylvania Workers and Students Remain Top Priority as House Passes Five-Month Budget, Says Fritz
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) joined his House colleagues in supporting a five-month, short-term budget which would fully fund basic and higher education for the 2020-21 school year and necessary health and human services programs.
House Bill 2387 passed the House by a vote of 103-99 and heads to the Senate for consideration.
“This budget process is by no means easy, especially since many Pennsylvanians have been without work and our economy has plummeted due to this pandemic – all of which we have to take into account when assessing funding options for the next fiscal year,” said Fritz. “However, through these trying, chaotic times, we have successfully endeavored in providing our children’s schools and colleges vital funding as well as giving all necessary health and human services programs money to provide assistance to those who have been unemployed. We accomplished this without raising taxes. I am proud to stand by my dedicated colleagues and support a budget that puts our workers and our children first.”
