O’Neal Disappointed in Governor’s Veto
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf vetoing
House Bill 2787:
“I am saddened the governor almost ran out the clock before vetoing House Bill 2787. He made it perfectly clear from the start he planned to veto it. Why wait 10 days before sending it back?
“The WPIAL started playing games last week. By delaying his veto, he has caused parents to wait even longer to watch their children compete. I applaud the school districts in our area that have creatively worked to allow at least parents to attend matches in a socially distant, safe way.
“I urge my colleagues who supported this bill in an overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion to vote again to override this veto. Parents should not be forbidden from watching their children, especially parents of seniors who are playing their last season.”
The 48th Legislative District in Washington County includes the city of Washington; Chartiers, North Franklin, North Strabane and South Strabane townships; and Canonsburg, East Washington and Houston boroughs.
