Ecker Issues Statement on Wolf Signing House Bill 854
HARRISBURG – Earlier today, Gov. Tom Wolf signed
House Bill 854 to extend the suspension of specific regulations found to be beneficial to businesses and residents during the COVID-19 disaster emergency. Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland), prime sponsor of the bill, issued the following statement in response:
“The signing of House Bill 854 signals a return to a legislative process that puts the General Assembly on a level playing field with the executive branch. As House Republicans have long advocated, it is now time for everyone to work together for the betterment of all Pennsylvanians.
“The road to recovery will be trying as we work to rebuild our communities so that they are better than it was before the pandemic. I believe we can and will accomplish this task. Failure is not an option, and to succeed, we must work together.
“Act 21 of 2021, formerly House Bill 854, allows for our vital business community to steadily enter the post COVID-19 world by not abruptly ending beneficial policies such as better access to medical treatment through telemedicine and relaxing strict regulations facing the hospitality industry. Rather, the law extends these advantageous benefits until Sept. 30, unless otherwise ended.”
