House Green Lights Borowicz Legislation to Increase Highway Mileage for Multipurpose Agriculture Vehicles

HARRISBURG – Supported by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, legislation sponsored by Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton/Centre) to allow Multipurpose Agriculture Vehicles (MAVs) to travel up to 10 miles on highways between farms and fields (House Bill 1307) was approved by the Pennsylvania House on Monday.

“ Often referred to as ATVs and side-by-sides, and especially given their off-road capabilities, MAVs are rapidly becoming the most convenient, go-to vehicle that today’s farmers rely heavily on to complete many of their daily activities,” said Borowicz, who also serves as a member of the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. “With agricultural lands becoming more spread out, the current MAV travel limit of up to five miles is no longer sufficient for many farmers to efficiently reach all of their properties.”





Under Title 75, MAVs are the only vehicles of this type that are permitted to travel on public highways. Borowicz’s legislation would not impact any ATV or side-by-side usage by non-farmers.

House 1307 now advances to the Senate for consideration.
