Mustello Issues Statement on Dobbs Ruling Regarding Abortions
6/24/2022
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) issued the following statement in response to today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that overturns Roe v. Wade, allowing states to decide abortion law.

“I believe in the sanctity of life and the need for policies that strengthen our families. I am committed to supporting legislation to protect the lives of unborn children, mothers and families.

“My House Republican colleagues and I have led the charge in passing legislation that respects the dignity of the born and unborn. This includes legislation that would prohibit abortions based on a diagnosis of Down syndrome, prohibit an abortion from being performed if the unborn child’s heartbeat is detected, and provide options to families while respecting the dignity of fetal remains. Additionally, House Bill 2252 has been proposed to add an amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution clarifying that there is no right to an abortion or abortion funding.

“Abortions remain legal in the Commonwealth. While Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act regulates abortions, the legislation does not outlaw it entirely.

“I will continue to fight for pro-life policies.”
