PUC Announces Rate Reductions, Says Warner and Dowling
5/31/2018
LEMONT FURNACE – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) and Rep. Matt Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) announced today that Pennsylvania Utility Company (PUC) has issued an actual rate reduction by company following the commission’s executive order to provide monthly credits to consumers totaling more than $320 million per year for 17 major utilities. The actual rate reduction can be found here.

This comes after Warner and Dowling, along with 13 House GOP members, issued a letter to the PUC commissioners, which can be found by clicking here, urging them to decrease energy costs for consumers because of the tax cuts under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017.

“My colleagues and I who authored this letter are absolutely thrilled to be helping the hard-working Pennsylvanians once again,” said Warner. “The function of government should always be to help our hard-working taxpayers and this achieves just that.”

The order requires 17 major electric, natural gas, and water and wastewater utilities to return $320 million per year to consumers.

“We are seeing utility rates lowered here in Fayette and Somerset Counties,” said Dowling. “Pennsylvanians have not seen their energy bills drop in years, and that is changing thanks to the savings produced by the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.”
