Dowling Announces Multi-Committee, 2020 Vision Summit in Fayette and Somerset Counties

Rep. Matt Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) announced today that he will be hosting a multi-house committee, 2020 Vision Summit, on Oct. 3-5, in Fayette and Somerset counties. The goal of this event is to bring members of the House Majority Policy Committee and House Transportation Committee to western Pennsylvania to show them what the area has to offer in terms of employment, culture, natural resources, and economic development.

The House Majority Policy Committee travels across the state conducting hearings about important issues, and gathering testimony and information from key stakeholders in order to develop sound policies to address issues.

The House Transportation Committee is responsible for providing oversight of the state’s mass transit systems and transportation infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and highways.

2020 Vision Summit Events

Thursday, Oct. 4, at 9 a.m., the House Transportation Committee will tour the Three Rivers Marine and Rail Terminals Company, 2124 Route 906, Belle Vernon, PA. The media is welcome to attend.

Thursday, Oct. 4, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn, 555 Synergy Drive, Uniontown, the House Majority Policy Committee will host a public hearing to gather testimony from local job creators from a variety of industries on how the state Legislature can help to promote job creation and a healthy economy. Specifically, the testimony will focus on how state government can better assist them and how state government has been a hinderance. Testifiers for this hearing include Muriel Nuttel, director of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce; Vicki Meier, representative from Highlands Hospital; Ben Moyer, former owner of AC Moyer Company; Steve Hranec, president of AC Moyer Company; and Mark Anthony, vice president of operations at Hranec Corporation. This hearing is open to the media and the public.

Friday, Oct. 5, at 9:15 a.m., at the Ohiopyle Visitor Center, Main St, Ohiopyle, PA 15470, the House Transportation Committee will be part of a roundtable discussion concerning green-streets and scenic byway programs. A tour of the Ohiopyle multi-model project with PennDOT and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will follow the roundtable discussion. The media is invited to attend both the roundtable and the tour.
