Dush Selected as House Environmental Committee Secretary and New Member of Bipartisan Budget Watchdog Committee
HARRISBURG – Rep. Cris Dush (R-Jefferson/Indiana) has been selected to serve as Secretary on the powerful state House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and appointed as a new member of the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee.
“One of our region’s most important competitive advantages is an abundant supply of safe, clean and reliable energy,” said Dush. “As secretary of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, it is my responsibility ensure that the residents of the 66th Legislative District have an even larger voice in protecting regional energy producers and thousands of family-sustaining jobs from overreaching state and federal regulations.”
The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is responsible for legislative oversight of environmental laws and regulations administered by both the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). More specifically, the committee addresses issues involving conventional and unconventional oil and natural gas drilling and development; environmental permitting; coal mining and stopping the governor’s most recent attempts to tax Pennsylvania’s overregulated energy producers out of business.
“As a founding member of the Common Sense Caucus I have had many opportunities to focus on the critical economic priorities of holding the line against new taxes, welfare reform and controlling spending,” said Dush. “I am honored that our new leadership team has recognized the work we’ve done. I’m thoroughly committed to applying these experiences to identify additional ways to reduce spending and highlight the wasteful and ineffective use of tax dollars in my new role as a member of the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee.”
The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee is a bipartisan, bicameral legislative service agency tasked with making research-supported recommendations for the elimination of wasteful expenditures and promotion of economic growth, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of taxpayer dollars.
“During his time in Harrisburg, Representative Dush has proven to be a diligent protector of taxpayer interests,” said House Majority Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster). “His attention to detail and commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars are used appropriately and efficiently will make him an invaluable asset to the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee.”
