Human Services Committee to Hold Hearing on Workforce Issues for People with Disabilities

WHAT:    The House Human Services Committee will hold a public hearing to learn more about workplace issues related to the care of people with disabilities. The hearing will also include a video presentation and the release of a study highlighting the potential for the Commonwealth to save money if the direct care professionals were paid a living wage.

WHO:    Reps. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks) and Angel Cruz (D-Philadelphia), chairmen, Human Services Committee; and members of the Human Services Committee. Those expected to offer testimony include Nicholas Torres, CEO of Social Innovations Partners; Scott Spreat, president, Woods Research and Evaluation Institute at Woods Services; Mia McGuire, director of Administration, and Samira Gray, direct support professional, SpArc Services; Cheryl Dougan, parent; and M.J. Bartelamy, parent and past president, the Arc of PA.
