– After joining in today’s unanimous House vote that would amend the Public School Code to provide alternatives to the Keystone Exam as a high school graduation requirement, Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware) released this statement:
“Senate Bill 1095
would give students options in addition to the Keystone Exam, including appropriate ACT or PSAT scores, completion of a pre-apprenticeship program and acceptance to an accredited four-year nonprofit institution of higher education. This bill is about acknowledging that students have different strengths and learning styles, and it would take them into account.
“If the bill receives a favorable concurrence vote from the Senate, it would be sent to Gov. Tom Wolf for his review. I encourage him to recognize the Commonwealth’s students’ varying learning preferences by signing this important bill.”
