Committee to Consider Seven Human Services Bills, Resolutions
WHAT: The House Human Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), will hold a voting meeting to consider seven proposals. They include measures that would merge the mandatory and supplemental disorder lists so that every baby in Pennsylvania will be screened for every recommended disorder (
House Bill 730); increase awareness about cytomegalovirus in pregnant women and require testing for the virus in newborns who fail their required hearing test (
House Bill 1220); provide for the licensure of office-based buprenorphine and ensure that the consumer receives addiction counseling and treatment in conjunction with the medication (
Senate Bill 675); designate the week of Sept. 16-22, 2019, as “Prescription Opioid and Heroin Epidemic Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania (
House Resolution 487); designate September 2019 as “Suicide Prevention Month” and Sept. 10, 2019, as “Suicide Prevention Day” in Pennsylvania (
House Resolution 417); urge the Commonwealth to adopt and utilize sensitive language related to suicide (
House Resolution 399); and designate Sept. 25, 2019, as “Someone You Know Day” in Pennsylvania (
House Resolution 494).
