Turzai Praises Penn State for Tuition, Room and Board Freeze for In-State Students
HARRISBURG – Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) released the following statement praising the Penn State Board of Trustees for freezing tuition, along with costs for room and board, for Pennsylvania students for the 2018-19 school year:
“Penn State showed it wants to help ensure college remains affordable for Pennsylvania students by freezing its tuition and room and board rates for Pennsylvania students. When legislators voted to increase funding for the state-related schools, including Penn State, by 3 percent, the hope was that its governing board would freeze the rate for in-state students.
“Thank you to President Eric Barron and the Board of Trustees, who sent a strong statement to students, families and the public by voting in favor of the tuition freeze.”
Penn State received an increase of $7,575,000 in the 2018-19 budget passed by the House.
