Lewis DelRosso Announces Committee Assignments for 2021-22 Legislative Session
1/12/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) was assigned to serve on four standing House committees during the 2021-22 Legislative Session: Aging and Older Adult Services, Gaming Oversight, Human Services and Urban Affairs. The committees provide legislative oversight and help shape the language in bills that fall under their areas of responsibility.

The Urban Affairs Committee considers legislation affecting cities of all sizes, including housing, urban redevelopment, economic development, land use planning and zoning, growth management, infrastructure financing, and city services such as police, fire, sewage and water.

“As I knocked on 13,000 doors to talk to people during my campaign, I saw firsthand the struggles that the residents of the 33rd District are facing. That’s why I’m eager to get started on the Urban Affairs Committee,” Lewis DelRosso said. “Rather than just receiving grants that keep people tied to their government, my goal is to create a sustainable revenue flow and free them from the cycle by making a lasting change and truly revitalizing the area.”

The Aging and Older Adult Services Committee focuses on topics targeting the population that is 60 years and older, which includes long-term care, adult day care, elder abuse, senior community centers and home care consumer rights issues, as well as state lottery programs, such as PACE/PACENET.

The Gaming Oversight Committee addresses issues such as underage gambling and help available for compulsive gamblers, as well as licenses for small games of chance and bingo.

The Human Services Committee has oversight of issues within the Department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. Previously, it has handled legislation to address the heroin and opioid overdose crisis by trying to prevent these powerful drugs from getting into the wrong hands.

To use her decade of experience at UPMC’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Lewis DelRosso also joined the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus.

“I look forward to taking an active role on all the committees on which I’ve been assigned to serve, and I’m excited to see what that hard work can accomplish,” Lewis DelRosso added.
