House State Government Committee to Consider Bills to Alter Constitutional Amendment Process, Account for PPE
WHAT: In the wake of the Department of State failing to fulfill its responsibility of publishing a constitutional amendment, which prevented amendment questions from appearing on the May primary ballot, the House State Government Committee will consider a series of bills to address the gross negligence and improve the amendment process. One of the bills would also give the task of writing constitutional amendment ballot questions to the General Assembly following confusing ballot questions authored by the executive branch. The committee will also take up legislation to determine the full amount of personal protective equipment the state has on hand.
WHO: Chairman Seth Grove (R-Dover) will be joined by members of the committee to consider the following bills:

House Bill 1010: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to improve the method in which proposed amendments are published.

House Bill 1264: An act regarding the present, past and future response of this Commonwealth to the COVID-19 pandemic.
•
House Resolution 91: A resolution establishing the Select Committee on Publication of Constitutional Amendments to examine, investigate and make a complete study of the publication of constitutional amendments under Section 1 of Article XI of the Constitution of Pennsylvania.
