Godshall Lauds Shell Decision to Build Cracker Plant in PA
6/9/2016
HARRISBURG – Rep. Robert Godshall (R-Montgomery) said that this week’s announcement by Shell Chemical Appalachia that it will be constructing a multi-billion dollar ethylene cracker facility in western Pennsylvania is great news for all of Pennsylvania.

“The plan to build a plant in Beaver County has been in the works for many years and I am glad to see it coming together,” said Godshall, who is chairman of the House Consumer Affairs Committee. “The decision to build this state-of-the-art facility is further evidence that Pennsylvania’s economy is improving and the demand is strong for natural gas in the Marcellus and Utica shales.”

Shell announced this week that the plant, which will refine natural gas to make plastics, will create about 6,000 construction jobs and about 600 permanent jobs. It is anticipated that thousands of additional spin-off jobs will also be created across the commonwealth.

“The decision to locate a plant here was aided by the enactment of several business-friendly measures by the General Assembly over the past few years, which I was eager to support,” said Godshall.
