Rothman Supports Liquor, Wine Reform Legislation
HARRISBURG – Today, State Representative Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland) joined a bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives in supporting a
House Bill 1690, which will allow for expanded convenience in the sale of wine and beer. The legislation passed by a vote of 157-31.
Rothman issued the following statement after the passage of the legislation:
“Today, we have made a historic move to provide convenience for consumers and allow for free market efficiencies in the state’s liquor store system. This legislation is a first step in getting the Commonwealth out of the liquor business. House Bill 1690 will also require a review of the state’s wholesale liquor sale system and will result in a report to improve the system to make it more in line with the private sector. I am proud to support this truly significant step to reform the state’s outdated liquor laws.”
The legislation now heads to the governor for his signature.
