Topper Responds to Governor’s Budget Announcement
3/23/2016
HARRISBURG – Today, Gov. Tom Wolf announced that he would let House Bill 1801, which is the supplemental budget to close out Fiscal Year 2015-16, to become law without his signature. This bill restores the governor’s previous line-item vetoes to basic education, agriculture and corrections funding. According to Article IV, Section 15 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, any legislation that is neither signed or vetoed by the governor, automatically becomes law within 10 days without.

Topper issued the following statement after the governor’s announcement:

“I'm thankful that Gov. Tom Wolf has acted responsibly and will allow House Bill 1801 to become law. It's time to put this chapter of our history behind us and move forward in our work as a state government. I also thank my Democratic colleagues for joining us and convincing the governor that this was the most prudent form of action so that funding can be restored to our schools and agricultural programs.”
