Bloom Relieved Wolf Finally Relents on Tax Hikes
Governor allows 2015-16 budget to become law
HARRISBURG – In a press conference today, Gov. Tom Wolf announced he will allow the General Assembly’s latest 2015-16 budget plan to become law. The balanced $30 billion supplemental budget restores funding to schools and agriculture and increases basic education funding by $200 million without tax hikes. Rep. Stephen Bloom (R-Cumberland) issued the following statement in response to Wolf’s budget announcement:
“I am relieved the governor has finally accepted the reality that hard-working taxpayers can’t afford his massive tax hikes, although it’s unfortunate he caused so much pain, difficulty and expense by waiting so long to do the right thing. I hope the prolonged turmoil and disruption will be a lesson to him and he will sign next year’s budget as soon as we put it on his desk, instead of delaying the inevitable for nine chaotic months.”
