James Responds to Gov. Wolf Line Item Veto
12/29/2015
HARRISBURG- State Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s line-item veto of the fiscally responsible budget that was sent to his desk before the Christmas holiday:

“I am thankful that Gov. Wolf finally decided to release funding for schools, human service organizations and county programs that were in need, something the House of Representatives voted numerous times. Six months later than he should have, today, Gov. Tom Wolf used his line-item veto authority and allowed funding to be released to organizations that are in need.

“The budget that we sent him increased education funding by over $400 million, hardly something that anyone could consider “garbage” as the governor described it. At $30.3 billion, the budget was fiscally responsible and did not require any broad-based tax increases that hard-working Pennsylvanians oppose. As discussions continue on a full year spending plan, I will continue to stand firm on the governor’s proposed tax increases and fight for a budget that invests in our priorities.”
