Masser to Serve on House Appropriations Committee
HARRISBURG – Rep. Kurt Masser (R-Columbia/Montour/Northumberland) received his committee assignments for the 2015-16 legislative session this week.
Masser will serve on four standing committees, including the influential House Appropriations Committee. The committee members are responsible for developing the annual state budget and reviewing most legislation that has a financial impact on the state.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve as a member of the Appropriations Committee, as nothing is more important than considering the annual state budget and controlling spending,” Masser explained.
Masser was reappointed to the House Liquor Control, Urban Affairs, and Consumer Affairs committees.
“Now that the committees have been assigned, I believe that establishing meaningful public pension reform is another major issue that the Legislature needs to tackle,” Masser said. “Additionally, I am looking forward to continuing my efforts to combat blight, renewing our discussions about getting Pennsylvania out of the liquor-selling business, and finding solutions to the illegal drug epidemic in our state. I believe I will have the opportunity to work closely on some of these issues as a member of the committees to which I’ve been assigned.”
This is Masser’s third term representing the people of the 107th District in the state House.
