Greiner Appointed to House Appropriations Committee
HARRISBURG – Rep. Keith J. Greiner (R-Upper Leacock) has been named to the powerful House Appropriations Committee for the 2015-16 legislative session.
The Appropriations Committee plays a central role in determining the state’s fiscal priorities. Each year, the committee is responsible for considering the governor’s budget proposal as well as proposals submitted by the Legislature. The committee must ultimately draft a balanced budget proposal that allocates funds to state agencies and departments for state government operations. Additionally, the committee is tasked with analyzing the fiscal impact that any legislative proposal would have on the Commonwealth’s funds.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve on this influential committee,” Greiner said. “The budget process starts in March with the governor’s budget address and the negotiations that follow. I look forward to representing Lancaster County in those talks and working with my colleagues to craft a responsible, timely and balanced state budget.”
This is Greiner’s first time serving on the Appropriations Committee. He is the only House committee member from Lancaster County. A certified public accountant, he has more than 25 years of business and finance experience.
Greiner was also appointed to serve on the Local Government Committee. Prior to joining the House, Greiner served as controller of Lancaster County, an Upper Leacock Township supervisor and an elected auditor.
“I plan to utilize my local government experience as I work with my colleagues and local elected officials to ensure that government at all levels continues to work to meet residents’ needs,” Greiner said.
In addition to Appropriations and Local Government, Greiner has also been appointed to serve on the Commerce and Children and Youth committees.
