James Assigned to Four House Committees
HARRISBURG – Residents in the 64th Legislative District covering Venango and northern Butler counties will have a voice in the state Capitol on important issues including taxes, the economy, municipal governments, veterans affairs and emergency response preparedness, after state Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Buter) this week was assigned to four House committees.
“I will continue to be a voice for local residents as state government in Harrisburg works to address the issues facing our Commonwealth,” James said.
James, who has more than 40 years of experience as a local businessman working in both the banking and investment management sectors, will serve on the House Commerce Committee, which reviews legislation dealing with economic issues.
“I’m committed to creating an environment in Pennsylvania where businesses can grow and provide good-paying jobs for our workers,” James said.
James also will use his business experience as a member of the House Finance Committee, which considers legislation dealing with taxes and revenues.
“It is important for our tax laws to be fair and equitable for employers and families in Pennsylvania,” James said.
James’ service in the Navy from 1966-72 will help him with his responsibilities as a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for military veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country,” James said. “I am committed to working with emergency responders to support their important work.”
James also will serve on the House Local Government Committee, which handles legislation related to counties and municipalities.
“Our Commonwealth relies on a network of local governments that deliver programs and services to constituents,” James said. “I’m committed to working with local elected officials to ensure state and local governments work in cooperation to meet our residents’ needs.”
