Hershey Takes Oath of Office to Begin First Term as State Representative
HARRISBURG – Joined by family, friends and supporters, State Rep. John Hershey (R-Franklin/Juniata/Mifflin) was officially sworn into office today at the state Capitol to begin his first term in the General Assembly serving the people of the 82nd Legislative District.
“As I have tremendous respect for the task of serving 82nd District residents as their state representative, taking the oath of office was a very humbling experience. It marked the official start of the serious responsibility I have to work on their behalf both in Harrisburg and back at home,” Hershey said. “I thank everyone for the honor and look forward to taking an active role in our communities.”
The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker, as well as voting on rules to govern the body for the next two years.
The House will return to voting session on Jan. 15. Hershey has not yet been assigned to the committees on which he’ll serve, but will announce that information when it is available.
