Legislative Hearing to Focus on PA Manufacturing, Technology and Energy Jobs

WHAT: Lawmakers from across the state will travel to Pittsburgh to gather testimony about the current jobs climate in Pennsylvania’s manufacturing, technology and energy sectors. Led by House Majority Policy Committee Chairman Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), the hearing will focus on the impact affordable energy has on the state’s economy and the good-paying, technologically advanced manufacturing jobs available today.

The hearing is part of the Policy Committee’s agenda to grow and strengthen Pennsylvania’s middle class. Over the course of several hearings this fall, the committee will hear from Pennsylvania residents, community leaders and businesses about how state government can best assist them, and when to get out of their way, as they undertake efforts to create jobs and improve, prosper and strengthen communities.

Testifiers will include: Christopher Masciantonio, United States Steel Corporation; Petra Mitchell, Catalyst Connection; Jeff Nobers; Builders Guild of Western PA; Rachel Gleason, PA Coal Alliance; Matt Smith, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce; and David Spigelmyer, Marcellus Shale Coalition.

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.

WHERE: US Steel Research Center, 800 E. Waterfront Drive, Munhall.
