HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced he has been appointed to serve on the House State Government Committee for the remainder of the 2017-18 legislative session.

“The State Government Committee addresses major issues that directly impact all Pennsylvanians,” Bernstine said. “I look forward to being on the front lines of discussions and action on legislation that ensures government remains accountable to the taxpayers and becomes more transparent.”

The House State Government Committee is charged with reviewing legislation dealing with all aspects of state government including the election code, lobbyist disclosure, the Sunshine Act, Right-to-Know Law, legislative term limits and campaign financing.

“We’ve made progress over the years in the areas of transparency and government reform, but there’s no doubt we are still lightyears behind in some areas, so I look forward to working with my colleagues to overcome remaining challenges inherent to improving state government,” Bernstine said.

Bernstine also serves on the House Finance, Health, and Game and Fisheries committees. In addition, he is a member of the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee, which is a bipartisan, bicameral legislative service agency tasked with making recommendations for the elimination of wasteful expenditures and promotion of economic growth, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of taxpayer dollars.
