House GOP Policy Committee Hosts Hearing on Preserving Benefit Integrity

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Joshua D. Kail (R-Beaver/Washington), Rep. Brian Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana), and other lawmakers will host the second in a series of hearings titled “Excellence in Government: Preserving Benefit Integrity” to discuss ways to safeguard Pennsylvania’s social benefit programs from fraud, waste, and abuse, and ensure the state’s resources are efficiently allocated and accessible to those who truly require assistance.

Bill with Rapp Amendment Improving Lab Oversight for Medical Marijuana Passes House

HARRISBURG — Rep. Kathy L. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), Republican chair of the House Health Committee, announced the bill improving lab oversight for medical marijuana, which includes her amendment, passed the House by a 196-6 vote. Rapp’s amendment furthered the oversight of labs in several ways, including requiring them to establish annual inspections and submit proposed modifications to standard operating procedures within 30 days; clarifying violations are subject to civil penalties; and allowing the Department of Health to revoke or suspend licenses.

Schmitt Introduces Bill to Protect Seniors

HARRISBURG – With six local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in Pennsylvania not meeting state requirements, Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Altoona) introduced legislation today to require the state Department of Aging to make public all non-compliant AAAs and action plans to correct issues.
