Kaufer Leads Bi-partisan Group of Representatives in Unveiling Community Solar Legislation

As more and more Pennsylvanians turn to solar energy to power their homes, a bi-partisan group of lawmakers introduced legislation this week to allow for community solar projects in the Commonwealth. Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) is the prime sponsor of a bill that would allow Pennsylvania property owners and renters, who are interested in relying on solar power, to have the option to join their neighbors in creating community solar projects and to receive credit on their electricity bill for the power that is produced.

Lawmakers and the Administration Working Put Pennsylvania’s Families First and Place New Emphasis on Workforce Development to Create Family Sustaining Jobs

Lawmakers joined with Wolf administration officials Tuesday in Harrisburg to launch a new effort to strengthen Pennsylvania’s workforce, addressing the skills gap and worker shortages that hold back the state’s economy. Majority Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) said the PA House is moving forward with a package of legislation soon to build the state’s workforce and ensure today’s students will have access to the training programs that are needed to be prepared for the family sustaining jobs of the future.

House Majority Policy Committee Learns Court Rule Change Would Create Health Care Crisis in PA

Seeking to prevent a health care crisis in Pennsylvania, physicians, administrators, attorneys and industry professionals told members of the House Majority Policy Committee during a public hearing in Harrisburg today that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court must not change a rule dealing with medical malpractice lawsuits. Committee Chair Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion, Armstrong & Forest) said the proposed rule change to allow venue shopping could reverse progress that has been made to help ensure access to medical care for all, and called for Pennsylvania citizens to file comments about the proposal with the courts prior to a final decision on the rule changes.
