HARRISBURG – Gov. Josh Shapiro’s $45.8 billion budget proposal would continue untenable levels of spending, depleting the Commonwealth of its billions in reserves in just a few years, Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata) said after the governor presented his plan to the General Assembly today.

Schemel Questions Overspending in Governor’s Budget Proposal

HARRISBURG – The 2023-24 budget proposal presented by Gov. Josh Shapiro today would increase state expenditures by 5.9%, outstripping the Commonwealth’s rate of growth. As with past budget proposals from former Gov. Tom Wolf, Shapiro’s budget wish list would grow government at an unsustainable rate, according to Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin).
