Committee to Consider Four Education Bills

WHAT: The House Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Erie), will hold a voting meeting to consider four proposals on a variety of education topics. They include measures that would provide for school-based behavioral health assistance (House Bill 2022); provide for behavioral health awareness education (House Bill 2023); provide for mental health instruction study (House Bill 2024); and prohibit scholarship displacement at public institutions of higher education under certain circumstances (House Bill 2255).

Policy Committee Hears Importance of Forestry in Pennsylvania

MARYS – As the ninth largest industry in Pennsylvania, forestry contributes $22 billion in direct impact to the state’s economy, the House Majority Policy Committee learned during a hearing held in St. Marys today on issues facing the hardwood forestry industry. The hearing was co-hosted by Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter), chairman of the committee.

Nearly $9 Million in Funding Awarded to 17th District

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) announced an $8.9 million loan has been awarded to The Municipal Authority of the Borough of Greenville to improve water quality, according to Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer).

Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming), Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) and Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) are co-hosting a Gun Law Seminar in Laceyville on Thursday, May 5. The free event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Black Walnut American Legion, 328 Route 6 Road. Doors will open to attendees at 5:30 p.m.
