HARRISBURG – A bridge dedicated to a fallen corrections officer who succumbed to injuries during an assault at the State Correctional Institution at Somerset was dedicated in Sgt. Mark J. Baserman’s memory Friday, according to Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset), who spearheaded the legislative effort (2019 Act 102) to name the bridge.

Every 10 years, information collected through the U.S. Census determines the number of U.S. representatives each state is entitled based on population. Once in receipt of that data, states are responsible for redrawing the geographic area of their congressional districts to ensure equal and fair representation, and the physical manifestation of the constitutional principle, “one person, one vote.”
