Press conference to feature live demo of basic pet aid after release from hot car
WHAT: As temperatures climb and the first day of summer arrives, lawmakers will hold a press conference to urge the General Assembly to act on legislation to protect pets left unattended in hot cars. Following the press conference, a veterinarian will lead a demonstration of basic first steps that can be taken once the pet is released from a hot car.
The Motor Vehicle Extreme Heat Protection Act, introduced in the House by Reps. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) and Dom Costa (D-Allegheny) and introduced in the Senate by Sen. Andy Dinniman (D-Chester), would prohibit the confinement of a dog or cat in an unattended motor vehicle in a manner that endangers the health and well-being of the animal.
WHO: Farry, Costa and Dinniman will be present, along with Kristen Tullo, Pennsylvania state director, the Humane Society of the United States; and Mary Jane McNamee, JD, VMD, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.
