EAST STROUDSBURG – Looking to continue to spread awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, Rep. Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike), Rich and Anna Levitan, and many others spoke at a reception in Buck Hill, co-hosted by Weiler Corporation and TextLess Live More, on Friday, Aug. 23.

Weiler Corporation and TextLess Live More also co-hosted the inaugural Weiler-TextLess Live More Golf Scramble, which took place earlier that same day.

Brown, who is the prime sponsor of the Distracted Driving legislation, House Bill 37 said, “This bill works to keep the cell phone out of the driver’s hands, which will minimize the distraction and of course, work to stop texting. This legislation is absolutely needed to show Pennsylvanians their behavior with cell phone use behind the wheel must be highly responsible to improve our road safety for everyone. The legislation is reasonable, realistic and enforceable to help reduce distracted driving and save lives.”

TextLess Live More was founded in honor of Merritt Levitan, an 18-year-old woman who was hit by a distracted driver on July 2, 2013. Levitan died of her injuries the day after being hit by the vehicle, which was being driven by a young motorist. Recognizing digital distraction and distracted driving as the critical issue facing their generation, Levitan’s high school friends founded TextLess Live More in the aftermath of her death. TextLess Live More’s mission is to end distracted driving, prevent accidents associated with distracted driving and save lives.
