Says property taxes remain top issue
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks/Lancaster) today issued the following statement voting for the state budget bill that was approved by the House and now heads to the state Senate:
“I am pleased this budget would not increase the state sales tax or the state income tax. I have fought for a long time to use any increases in those taxes to provide dollar-for-dollar replacement of local school district property taxes.
“The spending level in this budget reflects the financial reality facing our Commonwealth. The budget attempts to use Pennsylvania’s limited financial resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
“With the state budget bill moving forward, I plan to continue my work with grassroots taxpayer groups across the Commonwealth to replace school district property taxes once and for all.”
