HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Nelson (R-Hempfield) issued the following statement in response to the House passing a $31.52 billion state budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18:

“This early in the process, I’m pleased we approved a balanced budget, which supports education, creates a new line for drug courts and prevents the traditional carryover budget increase without hard justification. We reduced spending in numerous areas, but these cuts are necessary to reinvent Pennsylvania. There are more efficient ways for government to operate. This budget sets us on that path. Just about everyone gave up something. When no one group is really happy and everyone see elements they don’t really like, to me it signals we struck a pretty good balance.”
