HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) has been named chairman of the Pennsylvania House and Senate legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.
“Throughout my entire life, I have taken every opportunity to hunt and fish and enjoy Pennsylvania’s outdoors,” Warner said. “I have begun to instill the love of hunting and fishing in my children at a young age. As such, I am extremely honored and proud to be appointed chairman of this caucus.”
The bipartisan, bicameral caucus works to promote and draft legislation important to sportsmen. Hunting and fishing activities have a significant impact on the Commonwealth’s economy. Hunters support 15,000 jobs in Pennsylvania and spend an average of $1,260 annually on the sport. They generate $121 million in state and local taxes. Pennsylvania’s anglers spend about $308 million annually in retail sales and support about 5,600 jobs.
The caucus plans to hold its first meeting of the legislative session in the coming weeks.
The 52nd Legislative District includes the city of Connellsville; Dawson, Dunbar, Everson, Perryopolis, Seven Springs, South Connellsville and Vanderbilt boroughs; Bullskin, Connellsville, Dunbar, Lower Tyrone, Menallen, North Union, Perry, Saltlick and Upper Tyrone townships in Fayette County, along with Scottdale Borough, and part of East Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County.
