HARRISBURG – Rep. Justin Walsh (R-Westmoreland) today issued the following statement on Gov. Tom Wolf’s $32.34 billion budget proposal for fiscal year 2017-18:

“The governor’s budget proposal did not include any broad-based tax increases, which is a good starting point. I also was encouraged that the governor is proposing the streamlining of our government to make it more efficient and effective in the services it provides.

“However, I am concerned about the increase the governor has proposed in the minimum wage, which would significantly impact our small businesses. I also am concerned with the Marcellus Shale extraction tax. We need to ensure that we provide our businesses and employers with an environment that enables them to grow and provide Pennsylvanians with good family-sustaining jobs.

“This is just the beginning of the budget process, and I remain hopeful that we can deliver a product that moves Pennsylvania and its families toward a brighter economic future.”
