HARRISBURG – Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) made the following statement after the governor presented his budget address for the 2017-18 fiscal year on Tuesday:
“In his address, the governor mentioned wanting to make some changes and incorporate new approaches, without creating any additional deficits, and still supporting government’s core services. This is a good time to restart the way we construct our state budgets, and take a look at potential cost-savings and ways we can streamline to make state government more efficient.
“The hard work now begins, and I am encouraging residents of the 108th District to pay attention through the House Appropriations hearings over the coming weeks to learn more about what these agencies do, and where efficiencies can be realized. I think this will be an active budget process this year, and I am hopeful that we – the Legislature and the governor – will create a responsible budget for Pennsylvania by working together.”
