HARRISBURG – Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) today joined her colleagues in a joint session of the General Assembly as Gov. Tom Wolf delivered his budget address. She released the following statement on the governor’s vision:
“This year’s budget address started the conversation more appropriately than Gov. Tom Wolf’s previous addresses. Evidenced by the absence of sales tax and Personal Income Tax increases, his proposal this tim offers much more on which we can agree.
“Gov. Tom Wolf indicated his interest in the Republican caucus plan to restructure government. He proposed $2 billion worth of cost efficiencies, spending reductions, mergers and consolidations. I support the goal to more efficiently use taxpayer dollars by consolidating departments that perform the same functions, eliminating unnecessary agencies and delivering services more efficiently and affordably.
“The governor’s plan does include a $1 billion revenue package that must be reviewed, but it is undeniably a tremendous improvement. His focus appears to be on providing safety, prosperity and wellness for Pennsylvanians, and I look forward to partnering with him on that mission.”
