HARRISBURG – Today, Gov. Tom Wolf addressed a joint session of the General Assembly on his administration’s 2017-18 budget proposal.

Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) issued the following response:

“I was encouraged to hear the governor’s willingness to consolidate government and reduce unneeded state agencies along with his call to not expand any taxes. Government is far too bloated and repetitive and if the governor wishes to assist in cutting that wasteful spending, it would be welcome indeed.

“However, property tax elimination must be part of the budget conversation. In his remarks, the governor said seniors are struggling to stay in their homes. I ask the governor, what better way is there to allow seniors to stay in their homes than eliminating their property taxes?”
