HARRISBURG – Following the budget address that Gov. Tom Wolf delivered today to a joint session of the General Assembly, Rep. Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery) released this statement:
“In his third budget address, I was more encouraged than in the two previous presentations due to the governor’s new perspective in dropping his call for broad-based tax increases on working Pennsylvanians. Instead, his plan includes cost savings that can be realized by combining departments with the same function; this is a welcome change.
“Money must be saved to allow for increases for important items, including funding for basic education and Pre-K Counts.
“We’re starting in a better position this year, and I would like to see the welfare of Commonwealth residents prized above all else as the discussion continues.”
