HARRISBURG – State Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) was assigned to serve on the Aging and Older Adult Services; Tourism and Recreation Development; Game and Fisheries; and Local Government committees during the 2017-18 legislative session.
“I am very excited to serve on these committees and look forward to hitting the ground running as we start the new session,” Wentling said. “The committee level is where a lot of the legislative legwork to review and refine bills is done.”
The Tourism and Recreational Development committee considers issues including travel and tourism promotion; the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission; snowmobile and trail-related initiatives; amusement parks, fairs, carnivals and folk festivals; agritourism; hotel and lodging issues; recreational use of land and water; and many others. The Game and Fisheries Committee receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It also approves the setting of license fees that support each commission and addresses all legislation affect them.
As someone who enjoys outdoor activities, Wentling was particularly excited about serving on the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee and the Game and Fisheries Committee.
“These two committees deal with issues that are near and dear to my heart and are important to the 17th District,” Wentling said. “Our part of Pennsylvania boasts beautiful scenery and wonderful outdoors opportunities. Helping to enhance that will help the district and the local economy.”
