HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) this week announced he is returning to the Game and Fisheries Committee for the 2017-18 legislative session. He also adds Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Children and Youth, and Tourism and Recreational Development to his committee list.

“As an avid outdoorsman, I am pleased to again serve on the Game and Fisheries Committee,” Warner said. “In addition, through my work on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Tourism and Recreational Development committees, I will be able to promote the leading industries in my district. Not only is my district home to many historic and recreational attractions, such as Seven Springs and the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail, it also includes many farms and agricultural industries, such as logging. Finally, as a father of two, I have a deep interest in children and helping our young people thrive. I look forward to my service on the Children and Youth Committee.”

The House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee deals with an array of legislation directly affecting the state’s farmers and farming operations. It also handles issues impacting the timber industry, horse and harness racing regulation, food safety and restaurant inspections, Dog Law enforcement and kennel licensure, the use of pesticides, and the administration of state-funded programs to promote agriculture in Pennsylvania.

The House Game and Fisheries Committee receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It also approves the setting of license fees that support each commission and addresses all legislation affecting them.

The House Children and Youth Committee studies adoption and child protection issues, along with child day care services, infant/child/mother health issues, juvenile delinquency, and adolescent and teen problems. It played an integral role in previous sessions to update the state’s child protection laws and continues to monitor those laws to make any necessary updates.

The House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee considers issues including travel and tourism promotion; the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission; scenic roadways; snowmobile and trail-related initiatives; amusement parks, fairs, carnivals and folk festivals; agritourism; hotel and lodging issues; recreational use of land and water; PA Wilds and many others.

The 52nd Legislative District includes the city of Connellsville; Dawson, Dunbar, Everson, Perryopolis, Seven Springs, South Connellsville and Vanderbilt boroughs; Bullskin, Connellsville, Dunbar, Lower Tyrone, Menallen, North Union, Perry, Saltlick and Upper Tyrone townships in Fayette County, along with Scottdale Borough, and part of East Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County.
