HARRISBURG – State. Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) announced she will serve on four committees during the 2017-18 legislative session. She was selected to serve on the Gaming Oversight; Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Labor and Industry; and Judiciary committees.

“I am more than pleased with the committees on which I was asked to serve. This is an excellent opportunity for the people of the 169th District to have an impact on bills before they are debated on the House floor,” Klunk said. “Last session, I served on the Judiciary and Gaming Oversight committees. I look forward to continuing the great work we started then.”

The Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee considers legislation related to Pennsylvania’s No. 1 industry, including all aspects of agriculture production and agribusiness, and other associated sectors, such as restaurant inspection, plant inspection and pesticide regulation. Though not commonly thought to fall under the guise of the committee, it also reviews issues regulated by the Department of Agriculture, such as the Dog Law and inspections of amusement rides.

“Since my district is largely rural and agricultural, much like the rest of Pennsylvania, I believe I will serve the Agriculture and Rural Committee well,” Klunk said. “I look forward to getting started doing the legwork of reviewing and refining bills that are sent to the committees.”

In addition to the committee assignments, Klunk will also serve as a deputy chair to the House Majority Policy Committee, which gathers feedback from stakeholders across the state on some of the most important policy issues facing Pennsylvania.
