HARRISBURG – Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) announced on Monday that she will be serving on four House standing committees for the 2017-18 legislative session.
Brown, who was sworn in earlier this month for her fourth term representing the people of the 189th District, will be a member of the following committees:
• The
Education Committee, which works on state issues involving public and private schools, encompassing pre K-12 basic education, as well as post-secondary education.
• The
Professional Licensure Committee, which deals with the 29 licensing boards located administratively in the Department of State. The department provides the boards and commissions with legal, technical and logistical support to administer their licensure programs.
• The
Transportation Committee, which handles legislation related to general Vehicle Code and regulations, including driver licensing and training, vehicle registration, rules of the road, and all other transportation issues, such as mass transit, rail, PennDOT and highway issues.
• The
Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, which oversees legislation concerning the Pennsylvania National Guard, disaster relief, 9-1-1 emergency dispatch services and state veterans benefits.
Additionally, Brown is serving a third term as a deputy policy chair for the Majority Policy Committee. During the previous legislative session, Brown focused on combatting Pennsylvania’s heroin and opioid crisis as a member of the policy committee.
“I am looking forward to serving on these committees, and having the opportunity to focus on the specific legislative issues they seek to address,” Brown said.
