HARRISBURG - As a member of the House Transportation Task Force, Rep. Lori Mizgorski (R-Allegheny) joined her colleagues for a press conference in Harrisburg to unveil their task force report, which investigates how to better fund transportation infrastructure across the Commonwealth.

The task force was formed to give a comprehensive overview of the status of Pennsylvania’s transportation system and its funding mechanisms.

Mizgorski and her colleagues shared their plans to introduce bills to help address the issues presented in the report. Mizgorski’s legislation, House Bill 2060, is designed to help curb the debt obligations of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

“The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has been forced by law to raise tolls for 11 straight years, while causing the turnpike to reduce its rebuilding program by 13%, forcing their debt levels to more than $13 billion,” said Mizgorski. “The turnpike commission needs to make critical investments to power economic growth across the Commonwealth and provide relief to its customers from excessive toll increases.”

The task force, headed by Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia), was formed in July by Majority Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster), who selected 10 House Republican members based on their experience on the Appropriations and Transportation committees. The members also represented diverse regions of the state.
